Alan (alongside Craige Southern and Debra Platt) is a Borough Councillor for Croston, Mawdesley and Euxton South, and serves as Leader of the Opposition on Chorley Council.
Alan is an experienced Councillor with a track record of involvement in the Chorley Borough areas of South Ribble. Having lived in Euxton since 1995, served as Clerk of Croston Parish Council between 2003 and 2023, and for Ulnes Walton Parish Council since 2013, Alan has been helping residents to solve problems for many years. In addition, Alan has been the volunteer Poppy Appeal Organiser for the Croston District since 2003, distributing and collecting Poppy trays and collection boxes to schools and business in Croston.
Alan has been supporting residents in opposing the large proposed developments in Croston off Moor Road and Mawdesley behind Hurst Green. He has also taken an active role in opposing the Third Prison at Ulnes Walton, now greenlit by the Labour Government.
Alan worked closely with our former County Councillor Keith Iddon to deliver the average speed cameras on the A581 Southport Road. From Euxton right the way through Croston and on to Rufford, journeys are now safer for motorists and cyclists. We now need to see a similar scheme on the roads through Bretherton to the A59.
