Malcolm Barron, Chairman of the South Ribble Conservative Association spoke of his sadness, at MP Lorraine Fullbrook’s decision not to stand for re-election as South Ribble’s parliamentary candidate in 2015.
“Lorraine has personally given me a great deal of time in dealing at government level with issues such as flooding in my area, dealing at top level with the Environment Agency and Defra in my role as a county councillor," he said.
“She will be recognised as a great personality and for dedicating so much time and energy into winning South Ribble from Labour.
"She is committed to the role until 2015 and has offered to assist us all in finding her successor.
"We are extremely grateful for all she has done for both the party locally and more importantly the outstanding contribution she has made on behalf of local residents in South Ribble. She will be sadly missed by everyone in the association.
"The decision to inform the association at this early stage ensures we can spend time to identify the right individual to build on the work Lorraine has done on behalf of local residents.”
