Vote for Penwortham's Andy Pratt this Thursday!

Andy Pratt is the Conservative candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner in Lancashire and hails from Penwortham in South Ribble.

He retired from the Lancashire Constabulary in 2010 at the rank of Superintendent. Precis of police career:

- 1982 to 1990 – Constable to Sergeant 
- 1990 – 1999 - Inspector – notable achievements: creation of the first arrest referral scheme for drug treatment, employment of the first Asian link worker in the UK, secondment to Her Majesties Inspector of Constabulary on the Lawrence Inquiry. 
- 1999- 2005 Chief Inspector – notable achievements: secondment to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council as the Drug Action Team co-ordinator, creation of the first multi-agency team to deal with Child Sexual Exploitation – now replicated across the UK 
- 2005 – 2007 – Superintendent – write the first Diversity Strategy for the Constabulary, hosted the National Police Independent Advisors conference 
- 2007 – 2008 – Temporary Chief Superintendent – seconded to the Association of Chief Police Officers – Terrorism and Allied Matters – author of the UK Police Prevent Strategy. 
- 2008 – 2010 – Superintendent – Prevent lead for the Lancashire Constabulary. 

He has lived in Preston since 1968. He is married with four adult children. He has gained considerable experience in the voluntary sector which has included: Inter-Faith Advisor for the Diocese of Blackburn about 3 days a week. This involves facilitating dialogue between church and Islamic communities, Governor of St Peter’s Primary School, Chorley since 2012, Governor of Runshaw College (FE), Leyland since 2012, Chair of Lancashire Forum of Faiths since 2011, Chair of South Ribble Concert Band since 2010, Trustee of ACT – Young Persons Charity in Blackburn since 2010, Trustee of Curious Minds – (Arts Charity in the Northwest) since 2011, Vice Chair of Preston and South Ribble Street Pastors since 2010, Trustee of Young Lancashire – (Young Persons Charity) since 2010, Trustee of Third Sector Lancashire – since 2010, Member of the College of Canons at Blackburn Cathedral – since 2015,Member of Parochial Church Council – since 2013

He plays the French Horn in a concert band. He also swims competitively and competed in the World Masters Swimming Championships in Gothenberg 2010 and Montreal in 2014.
