Mayor of South Ribble Councillor Dorothy Gardner has raised a commemorative flag at the Civic Centre, Leyland, in honour of Britain's service men and women.
The specially-commissioned flag was hoisted on Monday morning and will take pride of place until after the fifth Armed Forces Day on Saturday 29 June.
Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire Colonel Alan Jolley helped Councillor Gardner raise the flag in the special ceremony, which was also attended by representatives of local uniformed organisations and pupils from St Andrew's C of E Infants School, Leyland. The flag was blessed by the Mayor of South Ribble's chaplain, the Rev Nick Mansfield, during the ceremony.
Mayor of South Ribble Councillor Dorothy Gardner said: "South Ribble Borough Council is delighted to support Armed Forces Day and to fly this specially commissioned flag. This is an opportunity for the whole nation to show its support and appreciation for the contribution made by all those who serve or have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces at home and abroad. We will fly this flag with pride."
