The total number of unemployed claimants in South Ribble constituency in April 2015 was 694. This represents a rate of 1.4% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 482nd highest of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest claimant rate, 650th = lowest claimant rate).
This includes 444 people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance and 250 people who were claiming Universal Credit but were not in employment (provisional estimate; rounded to the nearest ten). Some of these Universal Credit claimants may no longer be seeking work.
The total number of claimants (both Jobseeker's Allowance and Universal Credit) is 248 lower than in April 2014 and 9 lower than in March 2015. These data are not seasonally adjusted.

Statistics on unemployment and youth unemployment by constituency from May 2010 are available from the Library’s Constituency Profiles. The Library’s monthly research paper, Unemployment by Constituency, will be published later today. It contains detailed analysis of labour market statistics and trends.
From November 2014 the Library has included out-of-work Universal Credit claimants within its headline claimant count and rate in addition to people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance. The inclusion of Universal Credit claimants in the claimant count figures is explained in more detail in Library standard note, Unemployment by Constituency: Changes in methodology 2014.
